It's All About Storytelling

I spend lots of time in class talking about how to shoot well-composed, exposed, steady video. But in the end, the most important thing is telling a good story. One of my favorite Video Journalists is a fellow named David Turecamo. Watch one of his pieces here and see what a good storyteller can do with just a handheld camera and excellent writing.

A lot of people say today that the new style of writing is fast-paced web writing style, because people have low attention spans and are very busy. However, this shows that the way to really touch people is by being creative and telling a story. This proves the older and original method works, by being a storyteller and using your senses to gain the reader's attention.

when telling a story especially a good one, you draw all of your audience's attention. What better way to tell people stuff with an intriguing story, old fashioned ways never die!

If someone were telling me a story, I would pay closer attention and they would probably keep my attention better than if they just started telling me information and didn't have anything to keep me listening. Let's hear it for the older, original methods!
