The Boys(and Girls) on the Bus

One of my favorite books is Timothy Crouse's The Boys on the Bus. It's about traveling with the candidates during the 1972 presidential campaign. CBS's traveling journalists have posted a video of some of the memorable moments from the current campaign.

By the way, if you're interested in the Crouse book from '72, here's an Amazon link.

The presidential races are hugely impacted and probably shaped by television. Television has shaped images, character and even the candidate's issues themselves. The public spotlight is just as important in 1972 as today.

I think they should show more of this during the races. I like to see Rudy G. throwing a curveball. It shows the candidates are human beings and not robots in front of a crowd reciting a prepared speech. Show them with their sleeves rolled up, laughing and smiling a little bit.

It's good to see the presidental candidates laid back and not always debating. Although it would be interesting to see them when they're not prepped for the camera and then show their "dark" human unsure side.

I agree. It is nice seeing the candidates somewhat out of their seen elements. We can relate to them.
