In ye olden days, AP or UPI newswire teletypes would spit out a constant stream of paper in newsrooms. Editors or reporters would have to periodically use rulers to tear apart the continuous spool of paper into individual stories. These stories would be sorted into baskets or hooks on the wall. This was called "stripping the wire". In the same way, this blog will attempt to sort through relevant content on the internet to identify and "strip out" items of interest for my students.

This Daily Show bit was one of the funniest I've seen in a long time. I watch a lot of TV news and finally someone is calling out the networks for putting so called "experts" on the screen just to fill up time and help the network get it's political views across with some kind of an "outside" perspective.
This was really funny and accurate at the same time. When I watch the networks bring random people on to discuss the election, I think they just need a time filler. What's odd is when they give them the, 'analyst,' title. This is misleading and disservice to the viewers. The networks should only use people who are qualified to be analyzing the election.
I couldnt agree more, i get my news from john stewart and stephen colbet. not that i dont watch other news networks, i just find it more entertaining and engaging.
I am not a fan of the Daily Show or Stewart/Colbert. However, like many news and sports shows, many stations feature so-called experts who are only there to fill up time and space. It aggravates me because often times they are full of it....

I thought I was the only one who felt like that at times Lol. I guess looking at it from their point of view, they like to change it up so it keeps things fresh and entertaining. There's nothing wrong with that. Just make sure they are actually 'experts' and not any 'Tom, Dick & Harry'. Be honest with the viewers... that's all I have to say.
