In ye olden days, AP or UPI newswire teletypes would spit out a constant stream of paper in newsrooms. Editors or reporters would have to periodically use rulers to tear apart the continuous spool of paper into individual stories. These stories would be sorted into baskets or hooks on the wall. This was called "stripping the wire". In the same way, this blog will attempt to sort through relevant content on the internet to identify and "strip out" items of interest for my students.

I think trying to get Gen-Y to watch the news is going to be very tuff. This is because we are not interested in the violence or politics going on in the world. That might be horrible to admit but we are the social age, we like being social about fun things not boring news that is told so dry and told by old people. Maybe if they made it funny like the comedy central news shows then we would watch.

I think if the news was presented in a way that was appealing ti Gen-Y then we would watch it. Something as boring as the news will not grab out attention like other things such as entertainment will.
